High street slayer Amazon is apparently guiding its customers towards the ingredients needed to build bombs, an investigation has revealed.
In one of the more bizarre developments of the month, Channel 4 News found that Amazon’s algorithms helpfully lead you to the components needed to make explosives and incendiary devices.
For instance, the substances needed to create things like thermite and black powder were found to be grouped together on the site’s ‘Frequently bought together’ section.
And it gets worse, amazingly. The ‘Customers who bought this item also bought’ section suggests things like steel ball bearings and push button switches when buying certain chemicals used in explosives – components often used in bombs.
MP Yvette Cooper said the investigation’s revelations were, rather obviously, ‘very disturbing’.
